Ready For Summer

“He raises the poor out of the dust…to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, and He has set the world upon them.” 1 Samuel 2:8

This verse is from a prayer of thanksgiving that Hannah prayed after God gave her a son – Samuel. She had not been able to have children and had been oppressed and persecuted because of it. But she prayed and God “did a new thing.” He brought “a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19)

It’s a very common theme in the Bible: He allows a time lag, people are in need, and then His people pray and God (sometimes not right away) does great things!

I think that we are in a time like that, and especially with kids. How lost so many are – without hope and without God in the world – attacked by craziness and confusion that few of us would have ever dreamed that kids would have to face. But we know that the answer is Jesus.

And that’s what our mission is this summer – to point kids to God and to the wonderful salvation that is only found in the Lord Jesus.

As usual, we have two series for the summer. Our camp series is a fun one called “My God is So Big” and is all about who God is and what that means to us. Our VBS series is one of our favorites – “Skill in Living” featuring our “Itsys” characters which teach principles for living from the book of Proverbs.

Summer is coming fast! We’re excited to see what God will do.

Following a trip to Barakel Family Camp, I’ll be starting the summer out with Moline Baptist Church VBS. Then I’ll be going back to Camp Tapawingo in Tennessee and finishing off the month with VBS at Jenison Bible Church. You can contact the churches directly for more information on VBS.

We are beginning a long process to update and enhance our Verse-A-Day mail club. Keep coming back for more information as the year goes on. If you don’t know what the Mail Club is, check it out.

Keep in touch over the summer by visiting us on our Facebook page and our website and share what new things God is doing in your life!

Will you stand with us in prayer this summer that God would raise poor kids “from the dust and make them inherit glory?”

See all our prayer requests for Summer 2023.
