The Lord is near…

The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:5b-7

Many people are feeling a lot of anxiety these days - finding it difficult to look ahead to Thanksgiving. Thankfully, we know that God is sovereign. Nothing has happened that has taken Him by surprise. He has a plan. He is always in control. And He works all things together for our good and His glory.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful…And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:15, 17

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, let’s leave the things we don’t understand – the things that cause us anxiety – in the hands of our sovereign God and choose to focus on the blessings we have in our lives because of His generous love, His grace, and His mercy.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17

Let’s remind ourselves of how He has worked and provided in the past and remember that He never changes – what He has done before, He will do again. Let’s seek His will and strive to be in it because “in His will” is always the best place to be!

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ…Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Colossians 4:2-4

I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me. Romans 15:30

Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, Ephesians 6:19

As always, we’d love to hear from you!
